Still In Bourke

Still in Bourke waiting on parts for the bus. So when the offer of a few days on a Station mustering/marking sheep arose I said yes

First thing was to set the yabby pots.

Spent day 1 chasing sheep on  the station motorbike. Next morning, while others moved the sheep closer to the yard, I fueled and greased the grader then 2 of us set off to cut a new road from one of the tanks to the boundary/Qld border road.

Ute here is acting as a marker for the grader back in the scrub

Coming to the end of pass 1. Road ended up 3 blades wide and 4k long.

And here we are at the NSW/QLD border

Who says you cant have a bit of luxury in the bush
A spa fed by the bore

Next couple of days were busy with the sheep so no photos.

Back in Bourke went for a trip on the Jandra paddle boat on the Darling.

A visit to Mt Oxley. the highest bit of land for quite a distance.

Yes I know this post is a bit of a mess.
I'll be back to tidy it up soon. when i've got a bit more bandwidth.

August 2013

Back on the road again. (good name for a song?)

Heading North. First night at Broke in the Hunter Valley

Then on to Mendooran for a couple of nights. Good Free Camp on the river bank. Easy walk into (small) town.

Then on to Walgett  for a couple of nights. Camped in the Rotary park camping area. Really nice spot longish walk into town (about 2K) Good IGA, good coffee shop, what more could you want.

Then on to the Big Emu camp area about 50k north.

Good use for old VW Beetles.

Now in Lightning Ridge in company with a few other Ulyssians from the RV group.

August 2012 - May 2013

I've been very slack again.
Decided I'd better update the blog.

So what's been happening?

Well I got back from Europe, did nothing for a while then headed up to Boonah Qld. for the CMCA rally in October. I took the inland route through Gloucester and Walcha via Thunderbolts way. Sure are some interesting hills along there. I did have a little problem on one of the long steep climbs. As I came to a sharp bend and wanted to drop down a cog (from 2nd. High to 2nd. Low) I discovered I didn't have any clutch release. Pulled over and checked the fluid resevoir (in the dash) all good, no loss of fluid, Hmm! let it idle to cool down a bit as temp was pushing towards what I consider the upper limit. After a couple of mins. try again and now I have full pedal. Another mystery !. Proceed onwards and upwards and try to keep temp down as much as possible. Further on. same thing happened but this time I managed to get some movement by pumping the pedal, as soon as the engine temp drops a little all works perfectly. So it's temperature related, I guess some moisture in fluid that boils when exhaust manifold temp rises, as clutch line routes close to it.

So!  On to Boonah,
( Had some snow in Glen Innis so went to Caravan Park and had to buy a heater.)
where I bleed the clutch and catch up with some friend's I've made on the forum.

Stopped here  on the way home (just because of the name)

Arrived back home,  Daughter and Granddaughter came to stay for a week.

Went up to Kendall for a weekend meet with some Forumites.

Janurary up to Coolah then down to Melbourne and Mornington Peninsular via Gunderoo,
Beechworth.

Back home Feb.  where I found these 2 guys had taken up residence out the front.

Spent March building new cover for my new trailer. When finished I decided the colour looked pretty good so decided to make the bus match.

First the window frames and screens went from grey to black

Then I coloured in the rest blue

Weeks later and it's finished.

All that remains to do is a complete tidy-up inside (I reckon I can drop about 200Kg in stuff I have never used)
Then off again. Where to? Who knows?

The past Year 2011-2012

Well now look what I've done.
Just posted a link to here on a forum.
Which means I better update this.

Feb.- March 2011 Headed up to Cairns following an
inland route until Townsville.  Past all the areas devastated by the floods.

You do see some wide loads here and there

Somewhere near Rockhampton for a few days

Stopped at Ellis Beach just north of Cairns for a week

Really nice spot

These pics are from at the back of the bus.

All at sea

About time I updated this blog.
I'm still on my friends boat . Presently at Malollabah on the Sunshine Coast having visited Camden Haven, Coffs harbour, Yamba and Southport on the way.

The next stop will be north of Fraser Island where I will leave and head back home.

So far we've had good weather almost all the time although today its blowing very hard and we will have rain soon. All good as we are safely in a marina (near Jessica Watsons Ella's Lady)

Change of plans

OK. Visitors having trouble getting to Aus. so have cancelled trip for now. Meanwhile I have had an invitation to go sailing from Port Stevens up to Qld. so I'm now on my way south again to park the bus at home and grab my duffel bag and swap the acubra for a sailing cap.

Stopped in Byron Bay for one night and am now in Yamba. Moving on in the morning.

Waiting in Brisbane

Having left Kendall to be in Brisbane to meet up with my Brothers coming in from overseas. I find that due to the Icelandic volcano they cannot leave Europe until Wed/Thursday if at all. So here I am in Brisbane waiting to see what happens. So much for sunny Qld. Weather forecast is for showers today, so far this 'shower' has been showering for 7 hours without pause. Ah well! can't really complain we've only had one shower today.
Here are some more photos from Kendall.
